FREDERICTON, N.B. -  The City of Fredericton has been awarded the Best Oil & Gas Community Development Group - Canada & Excellence Award for Natural Resource Strategies.  The 2016 Oil & Gas Awards, which are named by Global Energy News,  recognize the success and dedication of companies working across the globe and throughout the industry.

The Fredericton region is home to more than 350 companies which keep our natural resources sector globally competitive.  The Capital City is New Brunswick’s engineering hub and together with the knowledge industry, is leading the way in terms of research in energy, oil and gas.

“Ignite Fredericton led the creation of the region’s Natural Resources Task Force in 2015. Its goal is to align the Fredericton region with the needs of near term, responsible natural resource development and to maximize economic opportunities with respect to these projects.  This award recognizes that the efforts put forth by the task force are starting to show results“ says Ignite Fredericton and Knowledge Park CEO Larry Shaw.
