FREDERICTON, NB – Ignite Fredericton has teamed up with local educational institutions, the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce and the Provincial Department of Post-secondary Education, Training & Labour, to present the second Choose Fredericton Student / Business Mixer.
I Choose Fredericton will happen right after the 2016 Fall Career and Educational Options Fair
Fall on Thursday, September 29th, 3:00-5:00pm at the UNB Wu Center.
Its strategic emphasis is on connecting/networking post-secondary students from all Fredericton Region educational institutions with local employers in a comfortable setting. It is geared towards helping students build their network, so they can learn about current and future employment opportunities in our community.
“In order to attract, retain and grow businesses, we need talent. That is why student retention is a key economic priority of Ignite Fredericton and the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, who co-presented the inaugural event in 2013”, says event founder, Laurie Guthrie of Ignite.
Choose Fredericton will also showcase Fredericton as “Canada’s best city to work study, live & play” and to promote entrepreneurship as a career option, through the participation of various stakeholders in the startup ecosystem, and by meeting local entrepreneurs and young professionals, who have carved their own career path by ‘Choosing Fredericton’.
The format will flow as a mixer. The event will have ‘connectors’ who will help facilitate connections between the students and employers. The students will also be incented to network and win prizes like gift cards for university textbooks, clothing and food.
