Tri-City Economic Development Agencies Celebrate Innovation
FREDERICTON, N.B.– Innovation, a cornerstone of the economy, is being celebrated at the Fredericton Convention Centre, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on May 3, in a special event hosted by Ignite Fredericton, Enterprise Saint John, 3+ Corporation, and the University of New Brunswick.
The economic development agencies of New Brunswick’s three largest cities and university have teamed up for this special event to recognize some of the region’s most innovative companies, concepts, and actions through a unique panel discussion on the multigenerational workforce. This event will be followed by the 2018 KIRA Finalists Showcase, and the release of TechImpact’s Innovation White Paper as part of New Brunswick Innovation Week.
This tri-city event was designed to highlight New Brunswick’s history and continued focus on disruptive innovation, as well as how collaboration continues to foster New Brunswick’s world-class companies, products and human resources. “Innovation spans all industries, sectors and ages,” states Ron Gaudet, CEO, Enterprise Saint John. “Our lunch panel is designed to explore the new workplace and how multigenerational organizations present both unique challenges and opportunities, and how innovative companies are embracing the challenge and thriving."
“Innovation in New Brunswick has an impressive story,” says Larry Shaw, CEO, Ignite Fredericton. “2018 marks 20 years of the KIRA Awards. If you review the previous finalists and winners, you see organizations recognized globally for their products and services. This year’s KIRA Finalist Showcase features innovative organizations from all corners of the province who are making a difference in their respective industries.”
“Innovation fuels our economy,” states Ed McGinley, CEO, TechImpact. “One of TechImpact’s priorities is to foster more innovation throughout our entire economy so that we can unlock our region’s economic and social prosperity. This White Paper will share more detail on how innovation is key.” Following the release of the White Paper, there will be a secondary panel discussion with representatives from International Game Technology (IGT), Irving Oil, and McCain Foods.
